The 2000 Sydney Olympics are becoming more and more Beautiful. Following our recent report that Beautiful Day had been chosen by Germany's public service broadcaster ZDF as theme music for their coverage of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the Americans have followed suit.

The NBC network is using Beautiful Day as the background music for its daily Olympic highlights package - part of a series of 30-second video collages called 'Images of the Games'.

NBC is making a donation on U2's behalf to the Special Olympics.

'(The lyrics) convey the spirit of the competition (and) the essence of the Games,' said NBC Sports and Olympics chairman Dick Ebersol.
